            Rick has been acknowledged as a member of The Best Lawyers in America (criminal defense); included in the Arkansas Times "Best Lawyers in Arkansas." http://www.arktimes.com/980717.html; has been a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association (former Chairman of the Criminal Law Division), Arkansas Association of Criminal Lawyers,  National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, American Inns of Court, Pulaski County Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association and was an original board member of the Arkansas Death Penalty Resource Center.

 

PERSONAL PROFILE

            Rick has a variety of outside interests outside of the legal profession. As a former scholarship college basketball player, he maintained an active role as a competitor in city and church leagues in Little Rock for many years. He has coached in the Upward Basketball and Riverdale Soccer programs for several years.

            He also has been an avid river runner for many years. Having become an "expert" whitewater kayaker in the early 1980's, in addition to most of the navigable rivers and streams of Arkansas, Rick has paddled rivers on many trips to Idaho, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Costa Rica. Included in his experiences are two private permit 14-day expeditions on the Colorado River through Arizona's Grand Canyon. In 1993 he personally oared an 18-foot support raft down the Canyon which was the first time an Arkansas raft rower accomplished this endeavor.

            Music having been an integral part of his life beginning as a minister of music's son, Rick has continued to participate in music forums in church, has played in the legendary Arkansas band The Greasy Greens for over ten years and has been a major participant in the Pulaski County Bar Association's biannual production of "The Gridiron Show" since 1986.
